Brittany ”Red-I” Benton has cemented herself as an integral part of the city’s music scene for over a decade. Best known for her hard-hitting DJ sets combining hip-hop, house, funky breaks and Afro-Caribbean vibes. Any given night, she can be heard mixing J Dilla, Anderson Paak and Bob Marley back-to-back with her own production. She is also one half of the hip-hop duo, FreshProduce.(Best of Cleveland 2019) and the founder of Beat Freak, Cleveland’s monthly beats showcase. In 2018, she opened Brittany’s Record Shop, an independent record store that focuses on hip-hop, reggae and soul. The storefront doubles as a community space for aspiring producers and local artists by hosting DIY concerts and showcases for the local music scene. According to Benton, "you have to be apart of the scene that you want to see. That said, I'm always thinking about how about what I can give before what I can get out of someone or something."
In 2019, she was nominated as 'Best DJ' in Cleveland Scene Magazine's Best of Cleveland.
